Planning any event might present some mild panic attacks. I have been overwhelmed with advice, tips, tricks and costs on providing the perfect celebration for a loved one (or pet or favourite toy even!). It is big business. However, it doesn’t have to be so. With a little organization, planning and help from our friends, we can get through it, whatever the situation. Preparing for a happy event, however slight, gives you something to look forward to in the future, which in turn helps us to be satisfied.
Over the years, we have had fantastic celebrations and made beautiful memories. Each year the munchkins enjoy setting their theme (they usually put it from the day after the previous party!), some from a favourite book or movie at that time, or some from a particular interest. We did a Panda Bear Sleepover party (Covid Style!) for my daughter. I think we pulled it off very well, nobody got ill, and everyone had a good time. My son’s birthday fell in lockdown. He wanted a pirate theme. We had also just moved from our 3-bed townhouse to our 2-bed apartment (crazy, I know). With the towers of unpacked boxes, I made a treasure hunt for him to find his presents! My daughter could read the clues and help him, so a bit of homeschooling and teamwork was also thrown in! Ha!
Below are some pictures of the cakes and decorations I created for birthdays and special events (like Canada Day). over the years. Truthfully, we are constantly producing and don’t need an excuse! However, having an event to plan for is even more exciting. Please note, however, I do not do commercial bakes. I would happily make a cake topper or surround. The princess tower (closely modelled by a famous princess who lives in a tower!) was made from play dough!
Perhaps, they will inspire you to plan a party, big or small. My munchkins always seem to enjoy even the smallest celebration. If there is cake to eat, how can that be bad?
